Leak Test Instruments

HKA Technologies continues to develop and improve our air leak test units. These instruments have gained recognition in North America for providing accurate and reliable measurements, as well as fast setup and calibration features.  Their features include:

  • Rugged, accurate mass flow transducers;
  • Communication protocols that allow for real-time graphing and data collection;
  • Optional communications
  • Integrated calibrated leak orifices to facilitate self-calibration with one push of a button.

Standard units have provision for 32 independent test programs. Depending on your requirements, however, advanced units can hold an indefinite number of programs. Easy self-calibration, foolproof verification of system performance, and dependable, repeatable operation makes HKA an ideal choice for your leak testing requirements.

Models

MF Series: Direct Mass Flow
Takes a direct measurement of the flow between the pressure source and out through the part.
Used to test for holes which may or may not be visible to the naked eye
Pressures up to 15 PSIG
Flow sensor ranges include 100, 20, 5, or 1 SLPM
Field convertible option allows for dual flow range

PD Series: Pressure Decay
Measures pressure drop over time after a part has been pressurized
Used to test for holes which would be starkly evident in under water testing
Pressure sensor ranges include 200, 125, or 30 PSIG
Flow sensor ranges include 1000, 400, or 50 SCCM

DF Series: Differential Mass Flow
Takes a direct measurement of flow between a reference and test part
Used to test for holes which may be difficult to see in under water testing
Pressure sensor ranges include 200, 125, or 30 PSIG
Flow sensor ranges include 1000, 400, or 50 SCCM

VDF Series: Vacuum Differential Mass Flow
Measures the same same way as the DF Series
Used to test for holes difficult or impossible to see in under water testing
Severly reduces effects of temperature
Pressure sensor range ± 14.7 PSIG
Flow sensor ranges include 1000, 400, or 50 SCCM
Vacuum valve panel is required

BD Series: Belljar Differential Mass Flow
Measures the same same way as the DF Series
Used to test for holes difficult or impossible to see in under water testing
Severly reduces effects of temperature
Relies on proper fixturing, sealing, and sequencing
Pressure sensor ranges include 200, 125, or 30 PSIG
Flow sensor ranges include 1000, 400, or 50 SCCM

SC Series: Sealed Container Tester
Employs a method to test for leaks into a part which doesn't, and shouldn't, have ports or holes
For example, testing a part which gets over moulded and a leak would cause defects to form
Tests can be very rapid
Requires specialized fixturing
Pressure sensor ranges include 200, 125, or 30 PSIG
Flow sensor ranges include 1000, 400, or 50 SCCM

CT2500 Series

The CT2500 is HKA’s latest unit which has improved on the success of the CT1000.  The pneumatic ports and footprint are backwards compatible making the CT2500 a drop-in for the CT1000.  A 25-pin D-Sub connector provides access to user IO, tester IO, and external program selection.  It boasts a 7” touch screen which provides intuitive access to set up and use the tester.  USB and Ethernet connections make updating the software quick and easy.  Downloading test results or part setup files is also easy via the USB ports on the front or back of the tester.  In addition to the interface updates, the repeatability and speed of the sensor readings have been greatly improved.

Features:

• Improved signal conditioning and conversion speeds

• Two 16-bit analog-to-digital converters

• Two 12-bit digital-to-analog outputs

• Three USB ports (2 back, 1 front)

• Ethernet port

• Easily updated software either via USB or online

• Optically isolated inputs including program selection

• Relay outputs (Pass, Fail, Gross Fail, In Test, User 1, User 2)

• Memory for stored results and part setup limited by storage medium only

> Default memory can store over 1000 part files and over one million test results

• 7" multi-touch colour touch screen

CT1000 Series

The CT1000 series of leak tester provides a comprehensive parameter list which allows the user to tailor the test to their application.  Users can be confident that only tests which provide an expected response to being pressurized will be accepted.

Units come pre-programmed with a basic test set up which allows most users the ability to simply calibrate then then begin testing with minimal adjustments.  If sample parts have been provided the tester will be calibrated and optimized to these parts such that the system need only be verified once installed.

The CT1000 has been used by many customers for years and has had many features added over time.  It has a 2-line LCD display with four button keypad as an interface.  Four modes provide access to run tests, view and download test results, change system and part parameters, or calibrate the tester.  The back of the unit provides pneumatic ports, an RS232 serial port, external program selection port, and a 12-pin screw terminal for input and output to the tester.

Features:

  • 16-Bit analog to digital converter for sensor readings
  • Optically isolated inputs including program selection
  • Relay outputs (Pass, Fail, Gross Fail, In Test)
  • RS232 outputs for data and graphing stream
  • 0.001sccm precision
  • Up to 128 programmable parts
  • Up to 65k stored test results

Optional Upgrades
Package A: Data Pack

  • RS232 Communications
  • Battery backed-up real-time clock
  • Extended memory (10,000+ cycles)

Package B: Remote IO Pack

  • External program selection
  • Provision for 128 different programmable parts

Accessories

Manual Interface
The manual interace privides a means to bring ontrol to a convenient location for operator use.  This allows the leak tester to be used in a stand-alone operation without the need for a PLC.

Calibrated Leak Orifice
Required for the calibration and verification of the leak tester.  Each orifice in manufactured to the customer's specifications to leak a given rate when a specified pressure is applied.

Power Supply
For stand-alone operation a 24VAC wall adapter provides the power the leak tester requires.

Filter/Dryer
Clean, dry air is strongly recommended to protect the flow sensors.  HKA recommends and can supply a La-mann filter/dryer sized to the flow requirements of the station.
